Website: http://www.memphiscasa.org CASA of Memphis & Shelby County's mission is to empower volunteers to be voices in court on behalf of abused and neglected children in need of safe, permanent homes. Memphis CASA holds several fundraising and volunteer events every year. Among the fundraising events are the Kickin' It for CASA Charity Kickball Tournament, an amateur kickball tournament on August 28th, 2010; the 5th Annual CASA Raffle, running July 1 - Aug 28, 2010, with tickets available online at www.casaraffle.org; and the Light of Hope Awareness Project, during April's National Child Abuse Prevention Month, for which a visual representation of the number of children in need of CASA volunteers is erected for the entire month. Volunteer events include 5 trainings per year for new volunteers to become CASA volunteers; in-service trainings for CASA volunteers and other interested community members; and the annual CASA Volunteer Appreciation Celebration, which honors the work of CASA volunteers.
